UNCOVER THE SECRET OF THE BIG APPLE
UNCOVER THE SECRET OF THE BIG APPLE
“When I am in New York City, I can feel its energy and magic,” says Bender. “I decided to write about a secret I uncovered when I was there, in my new book.”
Midwest Book Reviews:
Parents of children who are past the elementary picture book level and into reading chapter books and longer readers will appreciate the blend of easy language, big print, and illustrations that nudge readers from picture book to longer forms.
Parents will also appreciate this story's focus on courage, flexibility, and facing life changes with hope and creativity as Lindie Lou imparts some basic insights into dealing with life through her adventurous perspective.
Her enthusiasm about the wider world, her ability to communicate with humans and fellow animals alike, and her involvement with Kris, who brings her a wonderful gift, creates many unexpected moments that lend to parent and child discussion, especially recommended for adults seeking materials that contain bigger-picture thinking rather than entertainment value alone.
The result is a winning story about a wise puppy who takes the world's challenges and runs with them. It's a delightful adventure with more than a light dose of messages for kids about how to live better, more emotionally cognizant lives.

SEAL OF aPPROVAL:
‘Lindie Lou Up in Space, Flying High, and Harvest Time’
Earns Story Monsters Approval
CHANDLER, AZ (July, 2018) – The judges of the Story Monsters Approved program, which recognizes accomplished authors in the field of children’s literature have spoken, and Lindie Lou Up in Space, Flying High, and Harvest Time by Jeanne Bender has earned the seal of approval.
The colorful, kid-friendly Story Monsters Approved seal attracts the attention of young readers much more than a sticker intended for adult scrutiny. Kids know when they see the Story Monsters Approved patch it means children their own age enjoyed the book and are recommending they read it, too. How do they know that? Because after books pass the first round of rigorous judging by industry experts, the books are then judged by a panel of youth judges who must also endorse the books before they can receive the official seal of approval.
“Who better to judge children’s books than the kids who read them?” explains Linda F. Radke, president of Story Monsters LLC., the same company that sponsors the Dragonfly Book Awards program. “Judging these books gives children a wonderful sense of importance and responsibility. Some of our judging coordinators have told us that students who usually don’t enjoy reading or have difficulty reading have gotten a much-needed boost due to their judging responsibilities and have requested to serve as judges again.”
Authors interested in having their books considered for Story Monster Approved designation should visit www.StoryMonsters.com and download an entry form. There is no deadline to enter. Books are sent for judging as they are received. Results are generally announced 4 – 6 weeks after submission.
For more information on how to get a book Story Monster Approved, visit www.StoryMonsters.com or call 480-940-8182.

FUN, HEALTHY, SAFE ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL HALLOWEEN
FOR CHILDREN AGE FOUR AND UP
FOR CHILDREN AGE FOUR AND UP
For many parents, the celebration of Halloween is a sensitive subject. In the past, most of us grew up looking forward, with great anticipation to this holiday. Today many are concerned about issues of fear, safety, nutrition, and religious convictions, causing parents to look for alternatives to traditional Halloween celebrations. Parents and grandparents alike want to uphold their convictions, while being able to enjoy a safe, fun, joyful celebration of Halloween with their children and grandchildren.
A simple answer is readily available... there is a new children's chapter book titled: HARVEST TIME: A Celebration on an Organic Farm. This is the newest book by the very popular, upcoming children’s author, Jeanne Bender. Bender released her twenty one chapter book last month, just in time for Halloween and harvest time across the country. This adorable book outlines the adventures of the adorable traveling puppy named Lindie Lou who is off on her third adventure in the Lindie Lou Adventure Series books.
“When I tell parents their is a book available with creative harvest themed costumes, nutritious party food ideas, and a thrilling surprise ending, that doesn't take away the fun of Halloween, they can't wait t read it," says Bender.
Rather than traditional frightening Halloween creatures, Harvest Time finds Lindie Lou wearing a lady bug costume, her two brothers wear grasshopper and bumble bee outfits, the adults compete for contest prizes as chickens, birds, corn stalks, hay stacks, and even the Mayor shows up. Bender’s characters dance, the children, dressed like mice play, they even sing the Lindie Lou Song, written by Bender. lindielou.com/song/html.
A harvest-themed parade, a jump off a hayloft, and an adventure in a corn maze add to the celebratory events. Bender’s well presented “life lessons” for Lindie Lou are another bonus to this sure-hit book for young readers.
All of the Lindie Lou Adventure Series books can be found on the website lindielou.com and in stores, schools, and libraries across the country.

Lindie Lou Adventure Series
September 11, 2017
As part of it’s dedication to literacy, Aspen Country Day School will host author Jeanne Bender for the second year in a row and this time she will be presenting Book 2 of her 12 book series, Up In Space, An Adventure at the Space Needle. Bender will be there on Monday, September 11 at 8:30 am. The public is welcome to attend. The school is especially excited because this year parent Todd Hoftner has offered to give each student in grades K-4 a copy of Book 2! Last year Mr. Hoftner was kind enough to give K-3 students their own copy of Bender’s Book 1, Flying High, Flying on an Airplane for the very first time! which takes place in St. Louis.
“I have written all of my life in one form or another and I never imagined how much parents, children AND teachers all over are embracing little Lindie Lou!” expresses author Jeanne Bender. “Everywhere we go we experience ‘Lindie Lou Mania’; she teaches children life lessons while traveling the world. I’m thrilled the books are doing so well,” says Bender.
Sweet illustrations, short cliffhanger chapters and familiar landmarks, a new city each book and a different month makes this a perfect book for all ages. As Lindie Lou travels, she shares adventures with friends and family along the way. In addition to being an exciting, entertaining read for kids age 5 and older, this children’s adventure series is perfectly tailored to the classroom curriculum.
Lindie Lou is a great asset because parents & teachers know they can avail themselves of the resources at the end including Fun Facts, Quick Quiz , City Calendars and the Lindie Lou Song. Children love to keep guessing where the energetic puppy will be going next based on three clues given in each book.
Editor Nancy Kiefer explains “Lindie Lou encounters many of life’s difficulties and overcomes them with exemplary courage acting as a role model for young readers. In book 1, Lindie Lou overcomes her fear of flying, leaving home and family as well as making new friends. In Book 2 Lindie Lou is having fun in Seattle where she learns determination when trying to swim, earning trust in friendships, humility and handling being lost.
Lindie Lou fans anxiously await the launch of book 3 in the twelve book series, Harvest Time, A celebration on an Organic Farm, which will be out early, fall, 2017. All of the Lindie Lou books can be purchased at www.lindielou.com, Amazon, Kindle, bookstores around the U.S. and of course at our Explore Booksellers & Aspen Public Library.
